Well, as I said, I have disabled the Message Boards due to lack
of interest. I had hoped for at least one request to support
them further, but cest la vie...

Ok.... I started the message boards hoping that people would be
prompted to post any service tips that they had come across -
preferably obscure fixes that might be missed elsewhere. I had
hoped that, at the least, people would request a fix for a
problem they where having. If I didn't have the answer, I'm sure
someone would.
However, since
the message boards where started six months ago, I have been the
only one to post anything at all to the board, except for one
other person. Unless there is some activity on the boards by
next month, I am afraid I am going to have to shut them down...

I
apologize for the delay in updating this site, but I've been
really busy lately. I hope that the new eBase eBay Inventory
Database program will make up for the wait. ;>
I am in the
process of building my first Tesla Coil. Please feel free to
check on my progress in the Articles and Projects section. If
you have any comments or suggestions, you can email me here.

Maybe I should
give up this programming bit! Apparently, the resistor color
code programs were off by one decimal place as well. I have
corrected the problem.
Not only that,
but they don't seem to want to run under windows XP or 2000.
Until I get that fixed, I will have to warn everyone that my
programs are only tested under windows 98 SE. As soon as I
figure out WHY they won't run under XP or 2000, I'll post the
fixes.
Also, I am
removing the individual component programs form the web site. I
will only update the UEC program from now on, unless I hear
requests otherwise.

I hope that every
one had a Happy
Thanksgiving!
I have fixed a
problem on the Frank & Ernie page that was causing some
browsers not to load the comics strips. Enjoy....

I have fixed a
bug in both the RC3 and the UEC programs that was preventing the
third color band to change to silver and gold. The calculations
were working, so the bug was only cosmetic. Sorry...

I don't suppose I
have much room to talk about Radio Shack. In my OLC and UEC
programs, the conversion from amps to milliamps was off by one
decimal point. I have corrected the problem. I apologize to
anyone who may have depended on the calculations being
correct.

I have corrected
the errors that were on the Conversion Table page. I had simply
copied the table straight out of Radio Shacks 1986 Electronics
Data Handbook catalog number 62-1085. There were over half a
dozen errors in that table. I've double and triple checked the
calculations, so they should be right now. If you find any
error, please let me know.
I guess this is
just another example of their "You've Got Questions, We've
Got Answers" campaign.

If you'll look
out the window to your left, you'll notice that I've added a new
category to the navigation bar - Reference Material. Here
you will find all sorts of data that any good technician should
already know! Just kidding. This should, in the future, become
the only source of technical information that you'll need. In
the meantime, it's a hodge podge of useless (or is that useful?)
data.
Enjoy, and if you know
anything you feel should be added to the virtual knowledge-base,
please email me.

I have fixed the link on
the PriceParts Db download page. I have also fixed a bug I found
in the program related to the Quantity field. The newest version
is v4.01. Check it out while you're here!

I have added several
schematics to the Projects page, and a few Herman comic panels
to the Humour page.
While I won't list every
addition that I make to this site each time (this news page
would get way too large really fast!), know that I will add to
each section as time permits. Please be sure to keep checking
back for the latest updates to your Favorite Electronics Web
Page!

I would like to welcome
you to my contribution to a world that seems to be fading into
history more and more each day - the World of Electronics!
I'm not talking about
nanotechnology or plug-and-play computer hardware. I'm talking
about the dying art of Consumer Electronic Repair and that
prehistoric creature that was once known as the Electronic Hobbyist.
With this site, I hope to
aide, at least in some small part, those of us left that are
still interested in the how's and why's of what makes things
work. If the first thing you do when you get a new electronic
gadget is take it apart, then you have found your home on the
net!
I hope everyone will find
a little something on this site that they can use. There will be
repair tips for the Technicians, articles and projects for the
Hobbyists and software for both. There'll even be some comic
relief for when that one last problem is driving you absolutely
mad!
If you have any questions,
comments, articles, projects, or suggestions please feel free to
email me. I will try to answer all email as time permits.
